LOS ANGELES โ Sophomore shortstop Roch Cholowsky and sophomore first baseman Mulivai Levu made history by becoming the first UCLA infield duo to receive ABCA/Rawlings Gold Gloves in the same season.

They are just the fourth and fifth Bruins to receive the prestigious defensive honor since its inception in 2007, joining Griffin Canning (2020), Beau Amaral (2012), and Pat Valaika (2013).

Cholowsky, the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year,ย emerged as one of the premier defenders in college baseball at the marquee position of shortstop. He led the nation in both defensive runs saved (20.15) and defensive WAR (1.51), while committing just seven errors in 66 games, good for a .978 fielding percentage. Remarkably, he went nearly two full months without a defensive miscue (Feb. 28โApr. 29).

Levu was recognized as the country's top defensive first baseman after committing just one error in 569 chances, finishing with an elite .998 fielding percentage. He tallied 517 putouts and 51 assists.

Together, the duo anchored a UCLA infield that helped the Bruins finish seventh nationally in fielding percentage (.982) and led the country in double plays turned (66), with 65 of those originating in the infield.
