LOS ANGELES -ย UCLA Baseball has officially added two elite talents to its 2026 roster, as commits Angel Cervantes and Dominic Cadiz have elected to forego professional contracts and enroll at UCLA as freshmen this fall.
ย
"Getting both Angel Cervantes and Dominic Cadiz on campus shows how special of a place UCLA is both academically and athletically," said UCLA head coach John Savage. "Both are cornerstone players that will make an immediate impact to our program. We look forward to developing them and watching their growth."

Cervantes, a right-handed pitcher from Lynwood, Calif., was selected No. 50 overall in the second round of the 2025 MLB Draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates. Widely regarded as one of the top arms in the country, he is ranked the No. 2 right-handed pitcher in the nation by Prep Baseball and the No. 5 overall prospect in California.ย
ย
His résumé features appearances in the 2024 Perfect Game All-American Classic and National Showcase, two selections as a Preseason Underclass All-American (Perfect Game), and All-CIF honors in both his sophomore and junior seasons. Cervantes dominated on the mound in 2023 and 2024, tossing back-to-back no-hitters and finishing his junior year without surrendering an earned run. He also competed at the USA Baseball U18 National Team training camp and was named Area Code Games Pitcher of the Week on Aug. 16.
ย
Cadiz, an infielder from Sherman Oaks, Calif., was drafted in the 15th round (No. 445 overall) by the Milwaukee Brewers. The Notre Dame High School product is ranked as the No. 4 third baseman in California and the No. 76 overall prospect in the class. A two-time Preseason Underclass All-American (Perfect Game), Cadiz starred in his junior season, slashing .350/.436/.650 while leading his league in doubles (12) and home runs (6), along with 31 RBIs. He earned First Team All-Mission League honors for his performance.
ย
The arrival of Cervantes and Cadiz bolsters an already formidable UCLA squad set to return eight starters from last year's Men's College World Series team, marking its first appearance in Omaha since 2013.
