Women’s Golf Returns to Windy City Collegiate Classic Monday

September 28, 2025 | Women's Golf

LOS ANGELES – The UCLA women's golf team returns to the Windy City Collegiate Classic for a third straight season next week. The Bruins tee off for their second tournament of the year on Monday, Sept. 29 at Glen View Club in Golf, Ill.

The two-day, 54-hole stroke play event features two rounds on Monday and one round on Tuesday.

UCLA secured Alicia Um Holmes' first win as head coach in its debut at the Windy City Collegiate Classic two years ago in 2023 and tied a 54-hole program record of -32, 838 in the process. Three Bruins placed in the top 10, led by Meghan Royal with a runner-up finish (-9, 207) in her second tournament since transferring to UCLA.

"After a few weeks at home, our spirits are high to travel to our second event of the season," Um Holmes said. "Glen View Club is a wonderful venue and we're excited to head back to the site of our team's first win at the Windy City. We have almost an entirely different roster than our last go around, save Meghan, so it will be a fresh take for this squad. Similar to the team that won in 2023, this group of players consists of great ball strikers so I believe this course will suit their games."

2024-25 in Review
UCLA advanced to its 35th NCAA Championships after completing an unlikely postseason run in 2024-25. The Bruins exacted a seventh-place finish at their first-ever Big Ten Championship to qualify for the NCAA Tournament with a .500 winning percentage (65-64-1).

A solid first two rounds at the NCAA Charlottesville Regional gave UCLA a healthy 10-stroke buffer above the cut line to propel them to nationals. The Bruins secured key finishes earlier in their spring schedule that were essential in keeping postseason hopes alive. UCLA clinched its first win of the season at the Bruin Wave Invitational in February and, one month later, finished fourth at the highly-competitive PING/ASU Invitational.

Angela Liu led the Bruins with a 73.28 scoring average, four top 20s and two top 10s in her eight stroke play tournaments and 25 rounds of action as a true freshman. Liu was UCLA's top finisher in four of her seven starts, including the final two events of the season at NCAA Regionals (+1, 8th) and the NCAA Championships (+2, T-24th).
