No. 7 UCLA Hits 6 Homers in 9-1 Run-Rule Win Over LMU
March 11, 2026 | Softball
LOS ANGELES โ The No. 7 UCLA softball team homered six times in a 9-1 mercy-rule victory over LMU on Wednesday night at Easton Stadium.
ย
Five different Bruins (22-3) went deep, with Kaniya Bragg recording the second two-home run game of her career. Rylee Slimp, Megan Grant, Jordan Woolery and Sofia Mujica each added one homer. The six home runs are tied for the fifth-most in a single game in program history. UCLA previously set that record earlier this season with eight homers in a win over UC Riverside on Feb. 8.
ย
UCLA extended its winning streak to 16 games and has now run-ruled 14 opponents this season. The Bruins have also hit home runs in 17 straight games, with multiple homers in their last 10.
ย
In the circle, freshman Natalie Cable earned her second complete-game victory of the season. Cable finished her five-inning outing with three strikeouts while allowing one earned run on three hits and four walks. The Valrico, Florida, native retired the first six batters she faced and cruised through the first three innings without allowing a runner into scoring position.
ย
The Lions (18-8) did not get ahead in the count against Cable until the fourth inning. From the fourth inning on, Cable fell behind in the count to six batters. Five of those hitters reached base, with the other producing LMU's only run on a fielder's choice groundout to shortstop.
ย
With the outing, Cable improved to 5-1 and lowered her ERA to 6.68.
ย
UCLA opened the game with a barrage of home runs in the first inning from its Nos. 2, 3 and 4 hitters. Grant, Woolery and Bragg hit back-to-back-to-back homers, marking the first time a trio of Bruins accomplished the feat since the 2022 season.
ย
Grant sent the first pitch she saw out of the park on a low offering. One pitch later, Woolery drove an 0-1 pitch to straightaway center field. Grant and Woolery โ nicknamed the "Bruin Bombers" โ have now hit back-to-back home runs five times in their careers. Bragg capped the streak with a blast to center.
ย
Mujica recorded UCLA's only homer with runners on base, drilling a three-run shot to left-center to give the Bruins an 8-0 lead heading into the fifth.
ย
LMU manufactured a run to extend the game with back-to-back walks and a single up the middle to open the inning. Catcher Izzy Jamgotchian drove in the run with a single that deflected off Cable's glove.
ย
UCLA loaded the bases with one out in the bottom half on a hit-by-pitch to Mia Phillips, a walk to Slimp and a fielding error. Woolery delivered the game-ending RBI โ her NCAA-best 52nd of the season โ on a sharply hit grounder that stuck to the LMU third baseman's cleat. Phillips scored on the play while Woolery reached on a fielder's choice as Slimp was tagged out advancing to third.
