March 06, 2026 | Softball
The Bruins (19-3, 1-0 Big Ten) overcame a 5-1 deficit and rallied to their 12th run-rule victory of the season. Woolery's second homer of the night drove in three of her six RBIs and ended the game in five innings. She extended her NCAA lead in RBIs to 47 with tonight's effort. Woolery now has two multi-homer performances this season and five in her career.
UCLA recorded 14 base hits to extend its consecutive of games with 10+ hits to eight for its longest stretch since May 2017. The Badgers (14-8, 0-1 Big Ten) finished with seven hits off Bruin arms Sydney Somerndike, Brynne Nally and Taylor Tinsley.

Senior right fielder Megan Grant also had a remarkable night, reaching base all four times with two hits, one walk and one hit-by-pitch. Grant recorded her fourth straight game with a homer, going deep in her first at-bat with a screaming solo shot through the right field trees for her NCAA-best 17th blast of the year. The San Bruno, Calif. native has reached base in 65-of-89 plate appearances this season and carries an astounding .739 on-base percentage and 1.702 slugging percentage.

Sophomore Rylee Slimp reached a major career milestone in the third inning, notching her 100th career hit on a lead-off stand-up triple. The next inning, her 101st base knock tied up the game with an RBI single through the right side.
Wisconsin tagged starter Somerndike for three runs in the top of the first to jump out to an early lead. Lead-off hitter Emily Bojan opened the game with a double to the warning track that popped out of left fielder Slimp's glove who was in a full sprint. Bojan came around to score for the first run of the night and back-to-back RBI singles up the middle by Danielle Lucy and Makenzie Foster plated the next two.
The Badgers tacked on two more runs in the third with an RBI double down the left field line by Alivia Bark and sacrifice fly by Makenzie Foster. UCLA answered back in the home half with three runs to cut Wisconsin's lead to just one. Slimp's triple into the right field corner sparked the rally, bringing Grant to the plate who drove her in with a hard-hit single up the middle. Woolery then got on base with a single of her own. After a groundout, Bri Alejandre dropped a double in front of an outstretched left fielder that scored a pair.
UCLA snatched the lead and blew the game open with a seven spot in the bottom of the fourth inning. Freshman Jolyna Lamar entered to pinch hit to lead off the inning. She started the offensive spurt with a single into center and advanced to second on a bobble by the center fielder. Slimp then drove in Lamar for the game-tying run, knotting the score at 5-5. Wisconsin chose to intentionally walk Grant to put two on board for Woolery who entered the game as the NCAA RBI leader. Woolery made the Badgers pay, uncorking the first pitch she saw to opposite field for a go-ahead, three-run homer. Also recording RBI base hits in the inning were Soo-Jin Berry, who logged her first double of the season, and Aleena Garcia, who hit her fifth homer of the year on a towering drive out to left field.
Tinsley earned her 10th win of the season (10-2) while pitching 2.0 scoreless innings of relief with three strikeouts. She surrendered two baserunners (one hit, one walk).
