No. 1 UCLA’s 27-Game Winning Streak Ends in 4-0 Loss to UC Santa Barbara
April 14, 2026 | Baseball
LOS ANGELES — No. 1 UCLA saw its nation-leading 27-game winning streak come to an end Tuesday night, falling 4-0 to UC Santa Barbara at Jackie Robinson Stadium.
The Bruins (33-3, 18-0 Big Ten) had not lost since Feb. 24 and leave the streak behind as the longest in program history.
UC Santa Barbara (23-11, 10-5 Big West), which entered with the nation's top team ERA (2.95), became the first team to shut out UCLA since May 25, 2025.
UCLA mustered just five hits on the night, with Mulivai Levi and Dean West accounting for four of them. Will Gasparino added the Bruins' only other hit.
Ian May delivered two scoreless innings with a pair of strikeouts out of the bullpen to lead UCLA's relief effort, while Justin Lee and Cal Randall each added a shutout frame of their own.
After two scoreless innings, the Gauchos struck first with a two-run, three-hit third inning. Offensively, UCLA struggled to generate momentum, going five straight innings without a hit.
UCLA's best chance came in the seventh, when they loaded the bases before a strikeout ended the threat.
UC Santa Barbara added two more runs in the eight, and closed it out in the ninth to earn the win.
The Bruins return to Big Ten play this weekend, hosting Minnesota for a three-game series beginning Friday, April 17 at 7 p.m. PT on Big Ten Network.
