Murphy shot an opening-round 62 to set a course record at the BC Amateur Championship, finishing sixth in the tournament (-5, 283) ... was third at the Sun Life Financial Alberta Amateur (-14, 274) ... also tied for 12th (-1, 215) at the Alberta Open Championship, tied for 41st at the Canadian Men's Amateur Championship (+1, 285) and tied for 64th in stroke play at the U.S. Amateur, losing in a 1-for-24 playoff.
2017-2018
Appeared in 10 tournaments and 28 rounds, posting a scoring average of 74.3 ... had one Top 10, three Top 20s and three under-par rounds ... shot a season-best, 3-under 69 in the opening round of the Bill Cullum Invitational, where he tied for 17th (E, 216) ... tied for seventh at the El Macero Classic (+6, 222) ... tied for 18th at the TMU Spring Invitational ... shot a 1-under 70 in the second round of the Pac-12 Championships, where he tied for 41st (+3, 287) ... posted an opening-round, 2-under 70 at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate ... named Pac-12 Conference All-Academic Honorable Mention.

Was runner-up at the Calgary City Amateur (-2, 286) and tied for ninth at the Glencoe Invitational (+5, 221) ... Monday qualified for the Mackenzie Tour's Syncrude Oil Country Championship in August ... finished fifth at the California State Fair Men's Amateur (-12, 204) ... reached the match play semifinals at the Blackwolf and was a quarterfinalist at the Alberta Match Play.
2016-2017
Played in eight tournaments and 23 rounds, posting a scoring average of 75.7 ... best finish of the season was a T-16 at the Arizona Medalist Intercollegiate (+20, 233) ... tied for 23rd at The Maxwell (+8, 218), tied for 29th at the Marquette Intercollegiate (+7, 217) and tied for 40th at the Pac-12 Championships (+13, 223) ... recorded a season-best round of 1-under 69 in the middle round at the Marquette Intercollegiate, adding an even-par 70 in the final round ... named Pac-12 Conference All-Academic Honorable Mention.
