One-on-one consultations focus on developing a plan that is specific to the needs of the student-athlete to help them meet their health and performance goals. These consultations may include discussions around:

  • Recovery nutrition
  • Injury/return to play nutrition
  • Game day/competition nutrition
  • Body composition goals
  • Meal planning
  • Nutrition planning for dietary restrictions/preferences
  • Medical nutrition therapy (including, but not limited to anemia, food allergies, REDs, chronic or acute disease states, such as IBS, Crohn’s, celiac, diabetes, etc.)
  • ED/DE support

Team education helps teach student-athletes various performance nutrition and lifestyle habits through team talks, grocery store tours, and cooking classes

There is no regulatory body that approves the accuracy of the label or safety of the contents of dietary supplements before they are sold to consumers. This can put student-athletes at risk for consuming a contaminated supplement or testing positive on a drug test. We educate our student-athletes on the risks and benefits of supplementation, and which third-party tested supplements are the safest to take. We prioritize a food-first approach, but may implement supplementation where necessary. We also review any dietary supplement that our student-athletes take to ensure compliance with NCAA regulations.

Our performance nutrition staff collaborates with our campus chefs to help develop a rotation of balanced menus for our training table that supports our student-athletes’ nutrition goals. Our staff also works with their assigned teams to help create menus that best support pre and post competition fueling needs, including menus while on the road.

Hydration Testing
Hydration testing may be completed by urine specific gravity (USG), MX3, and/or sweat analysis to assess and educate student-athletes of their hydration status before, during, and after training.

Body Composition Testing We offer body composition testing to our student-athletes using a SECA machine, which provides data to reflect changes in lean mass and fat mass over time.

Lab Draw Review
We assess lab values to address and correct any deficiencies that may be negatively impacting our student-athlete’s athletic performance.
