
Bruins Fall to 49ers

Seventh-ranked UCLA lost in three games at No.6 Long Beach State Saturday night, suffering its fourth straight defeat at the Pyramid.
The 49ers won 30-23, 32-30, 30-21 in 81 minutes before 1,298 fans. The victory raised Long Beach State's record to 12-5 overall, 7-4 in MPSF play and snapped their three-match losing skid. The Bruins fell to 10-7, 5-5.
Junior Paul George led the Bruins with 13 kills (.321), followed by senior Nick Scheftic's 12 (.688) and junior Steve Klosterman's 11 (.333). The Bruins hit .320 for the match, but were hampered by poor serving, committing 17 service errors with just three aces.
The Beach hit .424 for the match, led by Duncan Budinger who led both teams with 24 kills (.447).
Next week UCLA hosts Pepperdine on Mar.1, followed by UC Irvine on Mar. 3. Both matches begin at 7 p.m. in Pauley Pavilion.
