Bruins Fall in Three to Pepperdine

The seventh-ranked UCLA men's volleyball team fell in three games to No.3 Pepperdine Wednesday night at Pauley Pavilion.
The Waves won 30-28, 30-28, 30-22 in 93 minutes before 829 fans. The victory raised Pepperdine's record to 11-3 overall and in conference play. The Bruins fell to 10-8, 5-6 in MPSF play.
The loss overshadowed a career-best performance by UCLA junior Steve Klosterman, who pounded 27 kills (.511) and recorded three block assists to lead both teams with 28.5 points. Junior Paul George added 10 kills, an ace and one solo block.
Freshman Paul Carroll and Junior John Parfitt recorded 16 and 15 kills, respectively to lead the Waves, who hit .345 as a team.
The Bruins will continue their homestand on Fri., Mar. 3 with a conference match against No.2 UC Irvine. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Pauley Pavilion.
