UCLA Set to Host Rival USC

LOS ANGELES - UCLA (4-6,2-5) will host No. 15 AP/ No. 19 Coaches Poll USC (7-3, 6-2) in the Rose Bowl on November 19 in a game which kicks off at 7:30 p.m. PT. ย The contest will be televised by ESPN with Steve Levy, Brian Griese and Todd McShay calling the action. The Bruin IMG Radio Network (Josh Lewin, Matt Stevens, Wayne Cook) will radio broadcast the contest on am1150. The contest will also be aired over Sirius 81/XM 81 (internet 81), uclabruins.com and tunein.com, and the TuneIn App.

THE SERIES - The Bruins trail in the series 45-31-7 (USC wins in '04 and '05 have been vacated due to NCAA penalties). USC won last year's meeting in the Coliseum, 40-21 to snap a three-game UCLA series win streak (38-20 2014 in the Rose Bowl, 35-14 in 2013 at the LA Coliseum and 38-28, at the Rose Bowl in 2012).ย
Brett Hundley threw for 326 yards and three scores and ran for another as UCLA topped USC in the last meeting held in Pasadena in 2014. UCLA limited the Trojans to 276 total yards, including 62 on the ground, and recorded six sacks. The Bruins broke a 14-all tie on Ka'imi Fairbairn's 32-yard field goal with 5:14 to play in the second quarter. UCLA then upped the lead to 24-14 at the break following an interception by Eric Kendricks and a Hundley to Eldridge Massington scoring pass with 14 seconds to go before the half. The Bruins then took the second half kickoff and went 84 yards on nine plays to score on a Paul Perkins run to secure control of the game at 31-14.
Last season in the Coliseum, USC tallied 20 straight second-half points and clinched a South title with a 40-21 win. A punt return for a score just before the half made it 20-14 for USC and turned the momentum towards the home team. USC went ahead to stay in the third quarter after returning a Josh Rosen fumble for a score. Paul Perkins ran for two Bruin touchdowns. Rosen passed for 227 yards and threw a scoring pass to Thomas Duarte. He also had two interceptions which ended a school-record 245 pass streak without a pick.
In UCLA's 2013 win in the Coliseum, Hundley threw for 202 yards and ran for two touchdowns. LB Myles Jack and DL Eddie Vanderdoes also ran for scores after lining up in the backfield. UCLA owned a 14-7 halftime lead and then outscored the home team by the same margin in quarter No. 3 to move out to a 28-14 advantage. A Perkins scoring run made the final score 35-14.ย
The Bruins scored the first 24 points in the '12 contest which was played in a mist which turned into a steady rain in the second half. Hundley passed for 234 yards and a touchdown and rushed for two more scores as UCLA clinched a second-straight Pac-12 South title with the win. Kendricks blocked a punt and made a fourth-quarter interception. Johnathan Franklin rushed for 171 yards and two touchdowns on the day.ย
BONFIRE AND RALLY โ The annual Beat 'SC Bonfire and Rally is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 17. The event, which will take place at Wilson Plaza (near Janss Steps), is scheduled to begin at 6 pm. VICTORY BELL โ The winner of the UCLA-USC football game is awarded the Victory Bell. The 295-pound bell originally hung atop a Southern Pacific freight locomotive. It was given to the UCLA Alumni Association in 1939 and then, in 1941, it was taken by a group of USC students. A year later, the student body presidents of both schools signed an agreement that the winner of the football game would keep possession for the next year.
CROSSTOWN CUP โPoints are awarded to the winner of each Trojan-Bruin head-to-head contest and the Crosstown Cup will be awarded to the school with the most points at year's end. UCLA leads this season 25-10 with 10 points at stake on Saturday.
NEXT GAME โ UCLA will wrap up the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 26 on the road at California. The two teams will either kick off at 12:30 p.m. or 4 p.m. on ESPN2.ย
