Bruins Blank Buffaloes to Run Streak to Five

LOS ANGELES -- The No. 20 UCLA women's tennis team won their fifth consecutive match Friday, as they defeated Colorado at Sunset Canyon Tennis Courts, 4-0. The Bruins, who moved to 11-5 (5-1 in Pac-12 play), did not surrender more than three games in any of their sets.
The Bruins continued their recent success in doubles, as they posted their seventh straight point with wins on Courts 1 and 2. Gabby Andrews and Alaina Miller set the tone for UCLA with a 6-2 victory over Annabelle Andrinopoulos and Brigitte Beck on Court 2 to push the Bruin duo's record to 3-0. The team of No. 23 Terri Fleming and Jada Hart then continued its impressive run with a clinching 6-3 win on Court 1 over Louise Ronaldson and Chloe Hule of the Buffaloes. Fleming-Hart is now 6-0 in dual-match play and 10-0 overall.
Moving on to singles play, Miller dispatched the Buffaloes' Kyra Wojcik on Court 4, 6-1, 6-2. The sophomore from Saratoga, Calif. has now won four out of her last five singles matches. No. 2 Ena Shibahara followed suit on Court 1 with a straight-set win of her own, 6-1, 6-3, over Colorado's Nuria Ormeño Ruiz. The freshman has won six consecutive decisions and is 12-2 in dual-match play.
It was a day of clinchers for No. 114 Jada Hart, who followed quickly behind Shibahara in claiming her straight-set win. The victory, a 6-2, 6-1 decision over Annabelle Andrinopoulos on Court 3, extended the Bruin redshirt freshman's winning streak to three matches.
UCLA will return to action less than 24 hours after its win over the Buffaloes, as Utah is scheduled to visit Sunset Courts Saturday at 12:00 p.m.
