UCLA finished up its regular season indoor campaign at the Don Kirby Invitational (Albuquerque, N.M.) and Husky Classic (Seattle, Wash.) Saturday, ending with six Top-5 finishes on the day.
The Bruin throwers led the way at the Don Kirby Invite, with junior Ashlie Blake and freshman Alyssa Wilson going 2-3 overall in the shot put, throwing 17.36m (56-11.50) and 17.30m (56-09.25), respectively. Both marks are indoor bests, and Blake and Wilson are now 5-6 in UCLA indoor history. Junior Dotun Ogundeji was the runner-up in the men's competition, posting a throw of 18.27m (59-11.25). Kai Wong was fifth in his flight, throwing 15.63m (51-03.50).
Senior Idrees Bernard took his second consecutive top-5 finish in the men's triplejump, going 15.23m (49-11.75) for fifth place. Junior CJ Alumbres was 10th overall with a mark of 47-07.00.
Senior Elleyse Garrett finished fifth in the collegiate pole vault competition, clearing 4.00m (13-01.50).
Freshman debutant Tyler Asemota led the way for the Bruins in the 60m dash, running 6.99 to finish 16th overall in the prelims. Sophomore Isaiah Holmes (7.06) and Bernard (7.08) finished 24th and 28th, respectively. Junior Schuyler Moore finished 22nd in the women's preliminary round with a time of 7.73.
The women's 60m hurdles saw senior Pattriana Perry (8.73) and junior Jasmine Stauffacher-Gray (8.80) reach the semi-finals, finishing 17th and 20th overall, respectively. On the men's side, Holmes finished ninth overall in the prelims with a time of 8.43.
Sophomore Riley Kelly posted a strong performance in the men's 800m competition, finishing second in the collegiate competition with a lifetime-best time of 1:51.48.
Redshirt freshman Chris Morzenti and redshirt sophomore Millen Trujillo went 7-8 in the men's mile, finishing with times of 4:16.43 and 4:16.49, respectively. In his UCLA track debut, redshirt freshman Andy Ehrenberg finished 23rd overall with a time of 4:27.20. Junior Jackie Garner posted a solid performance in the women's competition, finishing 12th overall with a time of 5:09.12. Redshirt freshman Lucie Semone also made her debut in the mile, finishing 5:30.74 to take 33rd overall.
The men's mile at the Husky Classic saw sophomore Carter Blunt move into sixth place in UCLA indoor history with a time of 4:02.89, an indoor-best time that was good for 18th overall and a victory in his heat. George Gleason finished in 27th with a time of 4:05.21 and Scott Snow took 35th with a time of 4:07.13. Sophomore Cassandra Durgy ran 4:57.82 in the women's competition to finish 50th overall.
UCLA will begin postseason competition at the MPSF Indoor Championships in Seattle, a two-day meet beginning Friday, Feb. 23.
