PALM DESERT, Calif. - The 21st-ranked Bruins posted the second-best round of the day at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate on Sunday, shooting a 19-under 269 to finish in fourth place at The Classic Club. UCLA recorded a three-round total of 16-under 848.

Junior Cole Madey (T-7, -8, 208) and senior Tyler Collier (9th, -7, 209) each finished inside the Top 10. Madey shot a 3-under 69 on Sunday, recording six birdies on #1, #3, #4, #12, #14 and #15 to go with three bogeys. Collier fired a closing-round, 6-under 66. He made one birdie and eight pars on his opening nine, then after a bogey on #10, the senior recorded birdies on six of his last eight holes (#11, #12, #14, #16-#18).

The round of the day for the Bruins came from sophomore Hidetoshi Yoshihara, who recorded a 7-under 65. Following a bogey on his first hole, he rebounded with three birdies in a row on holes #3-#5. Yoshihara then gained strokes on #7, #9, #13, #14 and #18, finishing the tournament tied for 53rd (+5, 221). Freshman Eddy Lai tied for 38th (+2, 218), recording a 3-under 69. He made five birdies on #6, #9, #10, #14 and #16 and two bogeys. 

Juniors Jack Ireland and Patrick Murphy, playing as individuals, each tied for 53rd (+5, 221). Ireland shot a 2-over 74 on Sunday, making birdies on #15 and #8, a bogey and a triple. Murphy produced a 3-over 75 on four birdies (#13, #14, #18 and #1) two bogeys, a double and a triple. Freshman Devon Bling tied for 71st (+8, 224). He shot a 4-over 76 on Sunday with birdies on #4 and #9 and six bogeys.

Next up for the Bruins are a team event, the Southwestern Invitational in Westlake Village, and an individual event, the TMU Spring Invite in Santa Clarita, with both taking place Feb. 26-27.
