BERKELEY, Calif. - Senior Madeline Jelenicki drove in both UCLA runs, including the game-winner in the seventh, while redshirt sophomore Rachel Garcia struck out 12, as the top-ranked Bruins defeated No. 24 California by a score of 2-1 on Saturday at Levine-Fricke Field.

The Bruins improved to 47-3 overall and 17-3 in Pac-12 play, running their winning streak to 13 games, while the Golden Bears fell to 34-15 and 7-12 in league.

Garcia moved to 18-1 on the season and has struck out 30 in her last 14 innings, giving up one unearned run, four hits and no walks in seven innings. She struck out three in the second and two apiece in the first, third, fourth and seventh, retiring the side in order in the first, fourth, fifth and seventh frames.

Offensively, four Bruins combined for six hits, as Garcia and Jelenicki each posted two-hit contests.

The Bruins scored first in the second inning, as Garcia led off with a single to right, moved to second on a single to left from sophomore Bubba Nickles and scored one out later on a single up the middle by Jelenicki.

California tied things up with an unearned run in the third, as Krysten McCue scored on an error.

The Bruins rallied with two outs in the seventh. Garcia led off with a single to center and was pinch-run for by junior Imani Johnson, who moved to second on a Nickles sacrifice, to third on a fly out to right by junior Brianna Tautalafua and home on Jelenicki's single to left to put UCLA up 2-1.

UCLA looks for the series sweep at California on Sunday when the two teams hook up at 2 p.m. The game will air on Pac-12 Networks.
