No. 10 UCLA Cruises Past LMU, 4-0

LOS ANGELES โ The No. 10 UCLA women's tennis team made a return from the ITA Team Indoor Championships Friday, toppling visiting Loyola Marymount, 4-0, at Los Angeles Tennis Center.
It was a big day for juniors Gabby Andrews and Ayan Broomfield, who teamed for a comeback win in doubles play before they provided the third and fourth points for UCLA (6-2) on the singles courts, respectively.
Playing for the first time as a tandem, Bruins Ena Shibahara and Abi Altick breezed against Yesica De Lucas and Camila Tumosa, 6-0. Despite the quick loss, the Lions (1-2) still had an upper hand, holding 5-3 leads on both Court 1 and Court 2. Siobhan Anderson and Anna Romeka would knot the doubles tally at one match apiece with a 6-4 victory over Jada Hart and Alaina Miller on Court 2, 6-4, leaving it up to Court 1.
Andrews-Broomfield forced a tiebreak and the teams quickly found themselves tied at three points apiece. The Bruins would take four of the next five, though, as a Lion shot went long at the feet of Broomfield to give UCLA the doubles point.
After teaming with Shibahara to blank their opponent in doubles, No. 31 Altick also had an impressive showing in singles play, topping Anna Romeka by a 6-3, 6-0 score on Court 4. Andrews also limited the damage against her opponent, rolling to a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Tumosa on Court 6.
No. 94 Broomfield also rode her doubles success into singles play, where she provided her third clincher in six Bruin wins. The Clemson transfer defeated Anderson on Court 3, 6-2, 6-3.
Next up for UCLA is a visit from Fresno State, followed by a date with California. The Bruins will face the Bulldogs Friday, Feb. 23 (1:30 p.m.) and the Golden Bears Saturday, Feb. 24 (noon).
