SAN DIEGO - Freshman Lexi Sosa and juniors Julie Rodriguez and Holly Azevedo combined on a six-hit shutout on Sunday, while junior Briana Perez had three hits and drove in two, as the top-ranked Bruins defeated San Diego, 4-0, at the USD Softball Complex.

Azevedo earned the win in relief to move to 6-0, striking out five in 3 2/3 innings and giving up two hits and one walk. Sosa started and fanned two in two frames, allowing two hits, while Rodriguez made her collegiate debut, giving up two hits and a walk in 1 1/3 innings.

The Bruins (19-1) had 10 hits from six different players, as junior Kinsley Washington and sophomore Megan Faraimo each posted two hits.

UCLA broke through in the third with a pair of runs. Freshman Seneca Curo led off with a single, Washington singled with one out and both came home on a double to left-center by Perez.

The Bruins scored additional runs in the fifth and seventh. With two outs, Perez bunted for a hit and came home on a double to left-center by redshirt junior Aaliyah Jordan. In the seventh, Perez scored a run on the back end of a delayed steal.

The Bruins are back in action on Tuesday at Easton Stadium against St. John's at 7 p.m.
