PASADENA, Calif. โ Running back Zach Charbonnet tied his career high with 198 rushing yards and three touchdowns, leading No. 12 UCLA to a 38-13 Homecoming game victory over Stanford. Charbonnet also had five receptions for 61 receiving yards, and quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson was 18-29 for 199 yards passing and rushed for 50 yards and one touchdown.
After Stanford (3-5, 1-5 in the Pac-12) scored a field goal on its first possession, the Bruins (7-1, 4-1) rolled off 24 unanswered points. Thompson-Robinson started the scoring with a three-yard touchdown run and immediately regained the ball when Darius Muasau intercepted Tanner McKee's first pass on Stanford's first play of the drive. Charbonnet wasted no time in doubling the Bruins' score, rushing for a 23-yard touchdown with 5:45 remaining in the first quarter.
Nicholas Barr-Mira recorded a 31-yard field goal to start the second quarter, and Charbonnet scored his second touchdown of the game, a one-yard rush with 4:26 left in the half.
The Cardinal stopped the Bruins' momentum following Charbonnet's touchdown, however, recovering a fumble on a UCLA punt return but had to settle for a 49-yard field goal by Joshua Karty with 1:23 on the clock. The Bruins marched down the field to the four-yard line on their next possession, but the drive stalled after a sack and a missed field goal with five seconds remaining in the half.
Neither team scored in the third quarter until the final seconds when Charbonnet rushed for his third touchdown of the game, a 37-yard run on 4th and 1. Charbonnet found a hole to earn the first down and then broke three tackles to coast into the end zone, putting UCLA ahead, 31-6.
