THE MATCHUP
UCLA, ranked No. 17 by the Associated Press and coaches this week, will take on California in a Pac-12 battle to be televised by FOX at 1:30 p.m. PT. UCLA was rated No. 16 in the latest College Football Playoff selection committee listing Nov. 15. Chip Kelly returns to the site of his first win as UCLA head coach, a 37-7 decision against the Golden Bears in 2018. The Bruins have won four of the past five meetings in the series with Cal, including the 2018 matchup. UCLA has won seven of its past nine Pac-12 road contests. The Bruin IMG Radio Network will broadcast the contest, which will also be aired over SiriusXM and the Varsity App. Westwood One provides national radio coverage.
The Bruins lost a 48-45 shootout with USC last week in the Rose Bowl. Dorian Thompson-Robinson became UCLA's all-time leader in touchdowns accounted for (110) after posting four touchdown passes and two scoring runs in the rivalry game. Thompson-Robinson also became the school's all-time leader in total offense against USC. The previous week, UCLA dropped a 34-28 decision to Arizona despite Zach Charbonnet rushing for 181 yards and three scores, snapping an eight-game home-field win streak. Three weeks ago, UCLA defeated Arizona State 50-36 in Tempe, Ariz. for its seventh win in its past nine Pac-12 road games. The Bruins accumulated 402 rushing yards, the most in program history since 2010.

โข Against USC, Thompson-Robinson moved past Brett Hundley (9,966 from 2011-14) into second place on the all-time school list for passing yards. He finished the game with 309 passing yards for a total of 10,235 and now takes aim at Cade McNown (1995-98), who is the all-time school leader with 10,708.
โข Thompson-Robinson (823) needs 15 more completions to move past Brett Hundley (837) and become UCLA's all-time leader in the category.
โข Thompson-Robinson became the school's all-time leader in touchdowns accounted for (110) and total offense (11,959) versus USC. His six total touchdowns agains the Trojans brought him to 110 for his career. Thompson-Robinson moved past Hundley (106 touchdowns accounted for and 11,713 yards of total offense) in both categories.
โข UCLA is one of six teams in the country (also Tennessee, USC, Oregon, Mississippi and Washington) averaging at least 500 yards of total offense per game in 2022. UCLA has exceeded the 500-yard mark in a game six times this season (513 versus USC, 571 at Arizona State, 523 against Stanford, 502 versus Utah, 515 at Colorado and 626 versus Bowling Green).
โข The Bruins are the only FBS team to have rushed for at least 2,600 yards and thrown for more than 2,940 yards this season.
โข DB Stephan Blaylock and OL Atonio Mafi each played in his 54th career game against USC to establish a new school record for games played.

LAST MEETINGS
In last year's meeting in Rose Bowl Stadium, UCLA rallied from an early deficit by scoring 32 unanswered points for a 42-14 win over California to close out the regular season.UCLA clinched a tie for second place in the South with the win, which was the Bruins' highest finish since it tied for second in 2014. The Bruins finished with 282 rushing yards against the Pac-12's top rushing defense (122.0 yards per game), led by Zach Charbonnet's 106-yard effort. Dorian Thompson-Robinson completed 19 of 28 passes for 164 yards, threw three touchdowns (with no interceptions), and added 102 rushing yards on 13 carries against the Golden Bears.
In the most recent meeting between the two programs in Berkeley, Calif., played in 2018, Joshua Kelley ran for 157 yards and three touchdowns, the defense had four of its five takeaways in the second half and Chip Kelly earned his first win as UCLA head coach by beating Cal 37-7. Kelley scored on a 5-yard run to cap a 59-yard drive set up by a Cal fumble. After Cal finally got on the board on the opening drive of the second half, Kelley and the Bruins answered with two straight scoring drives, including Kelley's 1-yard run that made it 27-7. Keisean Lucier-South put the capper on the victory with a 38-yard fumble return for a score.

Against BGSU, the the Bruins registered a Dorian Thompson-Robinson 68-yard run, a 52-yard catch and run by Keegan Jones from Thompson-Robinson and a 50-yard strike from Ethan Garbers to Josiah Norwood. The Bruins added a 70-yard pass play from Thompson-Robinson to Logan Loya against Utah. Kazmeir Allen raced 72 yards against Stanford and 75 more at Arizona State. Hudson Habermehl scored on a 51-yard pass play versus Arizona. Allen caught a 55-yard scoring pass against USC.
