CLAREMONT, Calif. -- Third-ranked UCLA (7-0) extended its winning streak on the year with a 21-6 win on Sunday afternoon over Cal Lutheran (1-6) at the Inland Empire Classic at Matt M. Axelrood Pool on the campus of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. The Bruins improved to 2-0 all-time against the Kingsmen.

A total of 11 different Bruins scored in the contest, including seven players with multiple goals, and paced by a career-high four goals from redshirt sophomore Grant Loth. Redshirt freshman Vinnie Merk had his first hat trick of his collegiate career. The Bruins also got two goals apiece from redshirt freshman Frederico Jucá Carsalade, reigning MPSF Newcomer of the Week, Ben Liechty, redshirt junior Luke Makshanoff, redshirt sophomore Mark Laurlund and sophomore Gray Carson.

Several UCLA players saw action for the first time in their careers. Makshanoff made his first appearance as a Bruin, as did redshirt sophomore Griffin Engstrom, who scored a goal in the third period. Another redshirt sophomore, goalkeeper Eli Wirth, played the entire fourth quarter in the cage and allowed just one power play goal but wasn't credited with any stops.

Graduate student Chase Honaker got the start in the cage and played the first three quarters, tallying seven saves and one assist while allowing five goals.

The Bruins were never really threatened in this game, scoring the first three goals of the contest and going on to win every quarter.

UP NEXT: The Bruins will face their first true road test of the season at No. 5 Pacific on Saturday, Sept. 16 at 1:00 p.m. PT.
