No. 19 UCLA Football Loses at Arizona, 27-10

November 04, 2023 | Football

TUCSON, Ariz. – The No. 19-ranked UCLA football team dropped a 27-10 decision to Arizona before a crowd of 44,956 at Arizona Stadium in a Pac-12 contest on Saturday evening.

Arizona (6-3, 4-2 Pac-12) never trailed against the visiting Bruins, claiming a 14-7 lead by halftime and taking a 17-10 cushion into the fourth quarter. The Wildcats, with 27 points, became just the second team this season in nine contests to score at least 20 points against UCLA.

UCLA (6-3, 3-3 Pac-12) finished the game with 271 total offensive yards, including 157 through the air and 114 on the ground.

Arizona quarterback Noah Fifita completed 25 of 32 passes for 300 yards to lead the Wildcats. He threw three touchdowns and one interception, as the Wildcats improved to 6-3 overall.

Arizona's total of 129 rushing yards marked the second-most rushing yards allowed by the Bruins in a game this season.

The host Wildcats entered the final quarter with a 17-10 cushion and held the Bruins scoreless over the game's final 15 minutes. Arizona added one fourth-quarter touchdown and a field goal to claim the 17-point victory.

UCLA had pulled to 17-10, late in the third quarter with a 29-yard field goal from Blake Glessner. The Bruins' field goal capped a 14-play, 64-yard drive over a nearly six-minute span.

Arizona claimed a 14-0 lead in the first half, scoring one touchdown late in the first quarter and a second touchdown with just under 90 seconds to play before halftime. The Bruins reduced Arizona's cushion in half, late in the second quarter. Bruins' quarterback Ethan Garbers connected on a 14-yard touchdown with Carsen Ryan in the final seconds of the second quarter for UCLA's first points of the night.

The host Wildcats used an 11-play, 76-yard drive in the first quarter to take a 7-0 lead. Fifita threw a nine-yard touchdown pass to Montana Lemonious-Craig to put the Wildcats ahead.

Arizona's second-quarter touchdown was a nine-yard pass from Fifita to Jacob Cowing.

UCLA has just three games left on its regular-season schedule – two at home and one at USC. The Bruins will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 11, hosting Arizona State at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. Next Saturday's game will begin at 6 p.m. (PT) and will be televised by the Pac-12 Network.
