No. 12 Women's Tennis Blanks Host Iowa State in Kickoff Weekend Play

URBANDALE, Iowa โ The UCLA women's tennis team defeated host Iowa State 4-0 in ITA Kickoff Weekend consolation action Sunday at Life Time Des Moines.
Kimmi Hance logged doubles and singles wins for the Bruins (2-1), clinching the overall decision. Ahmani Guichard was also victorious in singles play. The Cyclones (2-2), who had just five student-athletes available, forfeited the third doubles and sixth singles spots.
Needing just one win to seize the doubles point, UCLA got the job done on Court 2. Hance and Sasha Vagramov faced a 1-4 deficit opposite Gala Arangio and Ashlee Narker, but rallied to take the remaining games for a 2-0 lead before singles even began.
The Bruins claimed all five singles first sets. No. 99 Guichard's success continued through the second and she closed out the first dual-match singles win of her career with a 6-2, 6-4 performance against Valeska San Martin Ramirez on Court 5.
The 3-0 lead soon became a sweep, as Hance finished off her 6-3, 6-3 dispatching of Anna Supapitch Kuearum on Court 1. Hance has triumphed in each of her three career appearances on the top court.
Next up for UCLA is another weekend on the road, as it meets No. 15 Duke Saturday at 9 a.m. PT and No. 13 Ohio State Sunday at 11 a.m. PT. Both matches will be played at the Buckeyes' Ty Tucker Tennis Center.
