UCLA gymnast Tiana Sumanasekera will represent Sri Lanka at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland. The Bruin sophomore will compete on balance beam in subdivision 2 of the women’s team final and individual qualifications on Saturday, July 25. Competition begins at 10am BST/2am PDT. Sumanasekera will be coached there by The R.C. Rothman UCLA Head Gymnastics Coach Janelle McDonald.

Eight athletes will qualify to the event finals on each apparatus. The balance beam final will take place on Tuesday, July 28 at 1pm BST/5am PDT.  

The Commonwealth Games will be televised on beIN SPORTS in the United States. Results for Tuesday’s competition can be found here. 

Sumanasekera is coming off a strong freshman campaign, where she earned All-America honors in the all-around, as well as first-team All-Big Ten and Big Ten All-Freshman honors. She won a share of the NCAA Corvallis Regional floor exercise title and was runner-up in the all-around and beam at the Big Ten Championships. Sumanasekera posted high marks of 39.625 in the all-around, 9.950 on balance beam and floor exercise, 9.925 on uneven bars and 9.900 on vault and recorded five individual victories, including three on floor exercise.
