Former BYU standout Alilah Alvarado will transfer to UCLA in 2026-27 for her senior season, The R.C. Rothman UCLA Head Gymnastics Coach Janelle McDonald announced today.

Alvarado, who is from Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. and attended Chaparral High School, competed regularly on uneven bars and balance beam for BYU from 2024-26. As a junior in 2026, she recorded a 9.845 NQS on both bars and beam and posted a career-best 9.900 on beam in a road win at Clemson. She captured five event titles in 2026, three on bars and two on beam. Alvarado posted her career-high of 9.900 on uneven bars as a freshman in 2024. While training at SCEGA as a club gymnast, she won the Level 10 State bars title in 2021 and was runner-up on beam at the 2023 State Championships.

"We are so excited to welcome Alilah to the Bruin Family," McDonald said. "She brings three years of NCAA competitive experience to our lineups, with excellent execution and consistency. She is an incredibly positive, kind and determined young woman who will make an immediate impact to our team culture with her leadership. We love bringing Southern California athletes home and cannot wait for Alilah to represent UCLA!"
