No. 1 UCLA Clinches Series Over No. 7 TCU Behind Moss’ Dominant Outing
February 21, 2026 | Baseball
LOS ANGELES – The No. 1-ranked UCLA baseball secured a series win over No. 7 TCU with a commanding 5-1 victory on Saturday afternoon at Jackie Robinson Stadium.
The Bruins (5-1) rode dominant pitching from Michael Barnett (2-0) and Wylan Moss to claim their third straight win.
Barnett set the tone early, earning his second victory of the season after allowing just one run on three hits over five innings while striking out four.
From there, Moss took over and was absolutely electric to close out the ballgame. The sophomore right-hander fired four scoreless innings to earn the save, piling up a career-high 10 strikeouts, including an astonishing nine in a row to finish the game. Eight of his punchouts were swinging.
On the offensive side, Will Gasparino powered the Bruins with a 2-for-4 day, blasting his fourth home run of the year and driving in three. Aiden Aguayo was a sparkplug with three hits and two runs scored, while Dean West reached base four times, collecting two hits, a walk, and a hit-by-pitch. Roch Cholowsky added an RBI single in the seventh to pad the lead.
TCU (2-4) struck first in the opening inning on a solo homer from Sawyer Strosnider, but UCLA answered immediately. West led off the bottom half with a sharp single up the middle and later scored on Jonah Mulivai Levu's RBI groundout to tie the game. Gasparino put the Bruins ahead in the second with a bloop RBI single after Aguayo's leadoff knock.
In the fourth, Gasparino delivered again, this time with a no-doubt two-run shot to left to extend the lead to 4-1. Cholowsky's RBI single in the seventh made it a four-run advantage, more than enough cushion for Moss, who faced just one batter over the minimum.
The Bruins will look to complete the sweep in Sunday's series finale at Jackie Robinson Stadium. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. PT on B1G+.
