March 14, 2026 | Softball
ย
The Bruins (24-3, 5-0 Big Ten) extended their conference-best winning streak to 18 games while earning their 16th run-rule victory of the season. UCLA finished with nine hits and eight walks and took advantage of five Spartan (13-12, 0-2 Big Ten) fielding errors. Four of the Bruins' hits were home runs, extending the team's streak to 19 consecutive games with at least one homer.
ย
Senior Jordan Woolery reached base in all four plate appearances, going 3-for-3 with a double, a home run, four RBIs, three runs scored and a walk. Her 17th homer of the season pushed her NCAA-leading RBI total to 58.
ย
Sophomore Rylee Slimp drove in a career-high four runs with a bases-clearing double to left-center and a hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded.
ย
Infielders Bri Alejandre and Aleena Garcia and catcher Sofia Mujica also homered in a five-run third inning. Alejandre started the surge with a three-run shot to the opposite field, extending UCLA's home run streak to 19 games. Garcia and Mujica followed with back-to-back homers to left, with Mujica's drive clearing the videoboard.
ย
UCLA has hit back-to-back home runs in three straight games and six times this season.
ย
Senior Megan Grant finished 1-for-2 with a single and two walks, both in the first inning. Her second walk came with the bases loaded, driving in her 47th RBI of the season. Grant has now reached base in all 27 games this year, which is the third-longest streak in the country.
ย
Grant strengthened her national lead in walks (37) and on-base percentage (.720) with her performance tonight.
ย
The Bruins scored eight runs in the first inning despite collecting just two hits. Walks by Grant and Woolery and a hit-by-pitch to Kaniya Bragg loaded the bases for Alejandre, who laced a two-run double into the left-center gap. Two additional walks, a hit-by-pitch, a Michigan State error and a two-run single by Woolery accounted for the remaining runs in the inning.
ย
Freshman Natalie Cable started for UCLA and pitched two innings, allowing six runs โ two earned โ on four hits with three hit batters and two walks. Sophomore Brynne Nally worked the final three innings to earn her second win of the season.
