March 02, 2026 | Softball
ROSEMONT, Ill. – Infielder Bri Alejandre on the No. 8-ranked UCLA softball team earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors after helping the Bruins (18-3) to a 5-0 record at the Judi Garman Classic last week.
This marks Alejandre's first career weekly conference honor.
Alejandre ranked second on the team behind Megan Grant in slugging percentage (1.083) and RBIs (9) and matched her with nine walks during the Bruins' perfect weekend in Fullerton. The Alhambra, Calif. native went 6-for-12 at the plate with two home runs and a double and scored nine runs.
In UCLA's first top-10 win of the season against No. 4 Florida on Friday, Alejandre drew walks in all four of her plate appearances, including two with the bases loaded, and scored two runs. Her four walks are tied for second-most all-time in a single game by a Bruin. Alejandre notched at least one base hit when she did record an at-bat in the other four games. On Saturday versus BYU and Seattle, she reached base in 7-of-10 plate appearances with four hits, one home run and three walks.
On the season, Alejandre ranks third among all freshmen in the country and third on the team with eight home runs. She owns a .339 batting average (21-for-62), .823 slugging percentage and 26 RBIs in her 21 starts to open her collegiate career.
Alejandre and the Bruins return to action this weekend for their Big Ten Conference opener versus Wisconsin at Easton Stadium on Friday, March 6 at 7 p.m. (PT). Fans can purchase tickets HERE.
