SEATTLE – Trailing by three runs after seven innings, the No. 1-ranked UCLA baseball team stormed back with four runs over the final two frames to earn a thrilling 6-5 comeback win over Washington on Friday night at Husky Ballpark.

The Bruins (47-6, 27-2 Big Ten) secured their seventh victory this season when trailing in the seventh inning or later.

In the eighth, Jarrod Hocking delivered a two-out, two-run single up the middle to pull UCLA within one. Then, with the Bruins down to their final strike in the ninth, Cashel Dugger smoked a single up the middle to drive in both the tying and winning runs, completing the comeback and evening the series.

Aiden Aguayo provided UCLA's only other run-scoring swing, launching a two-run homer in the sixth. It was the freshman's second long ball of the season and capped a standout 2-for-2 day that also included three walks.

Mulivai Levu, Roman Martin, and Will Gasparino each added hits to round out UCLA's seven-hit attack.

Easton Hawk closed it out in the ninth to earn his 14th save of the season, extending his remarkable streak to 22 consecutive outings without allowing an earned run.

Landon Stump made his first relief appearance since 2024 and impressed, firing 2.1 scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and striking out two.

Washington plated two runs in the second, using a two-run triple from Casen Taggart to take the lead. The Huskies added another in the third, stringing together back-to-back doubles to push the margin to three.

UCLA began to claw back in the sixth when Aguayo launched a two-run homer over the left-field wall, bringing the Bruins within one. The blast accounted for UCLA's first runs of the weekend.

However, the Huskies would answer right back after the seventh-inning stretch when Jackson Hotchkiss smacked a two-run shot to restore the three-run advantage.

The Bruins answered with two runs in the eighth to pull within one. Three consecutive walks to Cashel Dugger, Aiden Aguayo, and Kasen Khansarinia loaded the bases for Hocking, who ripped a ground ball up the middle to drive in a pair.

After 1.2 scoreless innings from Cal Randall (3-0), who struck out three, the game moved to the ninth with UCLA still trailing by one. Levu sparked the rally by ripping a leadoff double down the right-field line, and Call entered to pinch-run as the tying run. With two outs, Gasparino chopped a grounder to short that was misplayed, extending the inning and putting runners on the corners. That set the stage for Dugger, who battled with two strikes before smashing a double into the gap, allowing Gasparino to score from first and giving the Bruins the lead.

Hawk took over in the ninth and pitched around two walks, recording back-to-back strikeouts to lock down the win for UCLA.

The Bruins return to Husky Ballpark tomorrow at 12 p.m. PT for the series finale, which will air nationally on Big Ten Network.
