The Bruins followed with a 4-3 victory on Saturday, scoring four in the first and leaning on a steady bullpen and Hawk's second straight save to stay perfect in Big Ten play. UCLA then completed the sweep in unforgettable fashion on Sunday, erasing an eight-run deficit with 11 runs over the final three innings to win 13-11, clinching a share of the Big Ten title and extending its unbeaten conference record to 24-0.
PROJECTED PITCHING MATCHUP
Tuesday, May 5 - 6 p.m. PT
UCLA – Fr. RHP Angel Cervantes (3-1, 5.01 ERA)
LMU – Fr. RHP Max Schneider (0-1, 13.50 ERA)
ABOUT THE LIONS
When the two teams met on March 24 No. 1 UCLA earned a 6-2 victory over Loyola Marymount, using a three-hit night from Roch Cholowsky and a dominant bullpen that retired 20 of the final 21 batters. The Bruins jumped ahead early with a two-run first inning, rebuilt their lead with a pair in the third, and added two more in the seventh to pull away. Roman Martin drove in two as part of a multi-hit game, Mulivai Levu extended his hitting streak to six, and Kasen Khansarinia recorded his first collegiate hit. Justin Lee earned the win, while Elai Iwanaga, Ian May, and Easton Hawk combined for three scoreless innings to close out UCLA's 14th straight win over LMU.
HAWK NAMED B1G CO-PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Sophomore right-handed pitcher Easton Hawk has been named Big Ten Co-Pitcher of the Week after locking down three straight saves in No. 1 UCLA's weekend sweep at Michigan State. This marks the first weekly honor of his career. Hawk preserved late leads in all three games, recording two four-out saves before closing out Sunday's comeback win with a perfect ninth. He allowed just one hit across 3.2 dominant innings, the lone baserunner he surrendered all weekend. It marked the second time this season he has notched a save in all three games of a series, previously doing so against Minnesota from April 17-19.
HAWK'S FLYING HIGH
Sophomore right-hander Easton Hawk has been one of UCLA's most reliable and dominant bullpen arms, piecing together an elite season built on consistency, swing-and-miss stuff, and a remarkable run of scoreless outings. Hawk has settled into lockdown form, allowing just six earned runs across 31.0 innings with 36 strikeouts, only 19 hits, and a sparkling 1.74 ERA. His last 19 appearances have been especially impressive: Hawk has thrown 20.1 innings without allowing a single run, giving up just three hits in that entire stretch while striking out 25 and converting 10 saves. Hawk ranks second in the nation with 12 saves this season.
MIDSEASON AWARDS
BRINGING THE HEAT
UCLA rode a historic overpowering pitching performance to a 4-1, 14-inning win at Rutgers, a result that underscored why the Bruins lead the Big Ten with a 3.07 team ERA. Logan Reddemann delivered one of the most dominant outings in program history, matching the school record with 18 strikeouts over eight innings while allowing just two hits and a single run, including fanning 11 of the final 12 batters he faced. Reddemann also produced 34 whiffs in the contest, which is the most in a Division I game this season. His effort anchored a staff that piled up 30 strikeouts, one shy of the NCAA single-game record, and set the tone for a night where UCLA's arms once again proved to be the backbone of the nation's top-ranked team.
SEEING REDD
Logan Reddemann was named Golden Spikes Player of the Week, College Baseball Pitcher of the Week, and Big Ten Pitcher of the Week following his dominant outing on April 10 at Rutgers. Reddemann matched the UCLA program record with 18 strikeouts over 8.0 innings, anchoring a Bruins pitching staff that piled up 30 Ks, just one shy of the NCAA all-time single-game record, in a 4-1, 14-inning series-opening win over Rutgers. The right-hander allowed just two hits and one run, punctuating his night by fanning 11 of the final 12 batters he faced. His 18 punchouts tied Rob Henkel's mark set against Washington in 2000. Before this game, the most innings Reddemann pitched was 6.1 against Iowa on March 27.
RETURNING PRODUCTION
In an era of college baseball defined by heavy transfer-portal movement, UCLA has taken a different path by retaining its core talent and reaping the rewards. No program in Division I returns more production for 2026, with the Bruins bringing back an impressive 83 percent of their overall output. That includes 85 percent of last season's plate appearances and 78 percent of the innings pitched, giving UCLA one of the most stable and experienced rosters in the country.
