WHAT'S AHEAD
The Bruins have three upcoming home games against Loyola Marymount (Dec. 2), Notre Dame (Dec. 8) and Belmont (Dec. 15) before traveling East to face Cincinnati (Dec. 19) and Ohio State in Chicago (Dec. 22). UCLA has recorded a 15-3 all-time record against LMU in a local series that dates back to the 1937-38 season. The two schools played each other from 1937-38 through 1948-49 before resuming the non-conference series in December of 1985. LMU won the last matchup against UCLA, defeating the Bruins in both teams' season-opening game at the L.A. Sports Arena on Nov. 11, 2011.
ย
IMPRESSIVE STARTS
The combined record of UCLA's upcoming three opponents is 20-1 (through games played on Thursday, Nov. 29). LMU has gone 8-0 to open the season, after an 106-50 win over Bethesda College on Thursday. Notre Dame has gone 6-1, while Belmont had posted a perfect 6-0 record, as of Thursday, Nov. 29.

UCLA'S LEADING SCORER
Sophomore Kris Wilkes is the only UCLA player to have scored in double figures in all seven games. The 6-foot-9 guard from Indianapolis, Ind., enters this Sunday's game as the Bruins' leading scorer (17.6 ppg). He has also averaged 4.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game while shooting 46.5 percent from the field. The former standout at North Central High School (Indianapolis) finished with 16 points, three rebounds and three assists in the Bruins' 80-61 win over Hawai'i on Wednesday. Wilkes tallied a career-best 27 points in the team's season-opening victory against Purdue Fort Wayne (Nov. 6).
ย
SELECT COMPANY
Kris Wilkes has been listed on the preseason watch lists for the Citizen Naismith Trophy, the John R. Wooden Award and the Lute Olson Award (all three are national player of the year awards). Wilkes is one of just 29 players in the country (and one of two Pac-12 players) to have been named to all three watch lists.
ย
CAREER-BEST PERFORMANCES
Redshirt junior Prince Ali scored a career-best 23 points last Wednesday, leading UCLA past Hawai'i (80-61). Ali made each of his first eight shots and each of his first five three-pointers. He finished the game having shot 9-for-11 overall and 5-for-6 from three-point distance. In fact, Ali made each of his first four three-point attempts within the game's first four minutes. Prior to Wednesday night, Ali's career-high for three-pointers made was three. Sophomore Jaylen Hands had a career-high 11 assists in the victory. The 6-foot-3 guard from San Diego dished seven assists with no turnovers in the first half.
ย
CRASHING THE BOARDS
Moses Brown has averaged a team-leading 9.9 rebounds in his first seven games. He enters this Sunday's game having logged 13.1 points per game and 2.7 blocks per game. The 7-foot-1 center from Queens, N.Y., has tallied at least 10 rebounds in five of seven games, securing a season-high 17 boards in his first collegiate game (UCLA's 96-71 win over Purdue Fort Wayne on Nov. 6). Brown became UCLA's first freshman to ever record double-doubles in his first three games, averaging 19.7 points and 13.7 rebounds in those three contests.
ย
THAT'S ELITE
Moses Brown became UCLA's first player to record at least 19 points and 17 rebounds in his collegiate debut since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (then Lew Alcindor) registered a then-school-record 56 points and totaled 21 rebounds in UCLA's 105-90 win over USC on Dec. 3, 1966. Abdul-Jabbar made 23 of 32 shots from the field in that game.
ย
FIRST TIME SINCE
Brown's 23-point, 14-rebound and eight-block effort against Saint Francis U (Nov. 16) marked the first time any UCLA player had registered at least 20 points and five blocks in a game since Jan. 22, 2000. Jerome Moiso had 22 points and five blocked shots in UCLA's 83-77 win against Arizona State in Pauley Pavilion.
ย
RECORD TERRITORY
Brown had eight blocks against Saint Francis U (Nov. 16). Since UCLA began officially recording blocks in 1978-79, only three other players have recorded at least eight blocks. Jelani McCoy set the school record with 11 blocks in his seventh game of his freshman season (vs. Maryland, Nov. 9, 1995).
ย
FROM LONG DISTANCE
In each of the past two years, UCLA has shot the No. 1 percentage from three-point territory of any Pac-12 team. With Lonzo Ball and Bryce Alford in 2016-17, the Bruins shot 40.6 percent from three-point range. In 2017-18, after losing Ball and Alford (and Isaac Hamilton and TJ Leaf), the Bruins shot 38.1 percent from three-point distance, a mark that still ranked No. 1 in the conference. As a junior, Aaron Holiday led UCLA last season by shooting 42.9 percent from three-point territory.
ย
THE STREAK CONTINUES
UCLA has made at least one three-pointer in its last 628 games. That streak began after the Bruins went 0-for-14 from three-point range in a 78-63 loss at No. 2 Stanford on Feb. 3, 2000. The Bruins have made at least three 3-pointers in 175 of 180 games under sixth-year head coach Steve Alford.
ย
WHO HAS THE HOT HAND?
Three Bruins have already made at least 10 three-pointers, through the team's first seven games โ€“ Kris Wilkes (13), Jaylen Hands (12) and Prince Ali (12). David Singleton has made 6 of 9 three-pointers, registering the team's best shooting percentage from downtown (66.7%).
ย
SMITH OFF THE BENCH
Sophomore Chris Smith has scored in double figures in five of seven games this year. He has averaged 10.6 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. Smith had 11 points against Michigan State (Nov. 22), making 4 of 7 shots. The sophomore guard, originally from Chicago, Ill., has shot 49.0 percent (25-for-51) and 38.1 percent from beyond the three-point arc (8-for-21). He tied his season high with a 15-point performance against Saint Francis U on Friday, Nov. 16.
ย
HE'S OUR PRINCE
Redshirt junior Prince Ali has entered his fourth season at UCLA. The 6-foot-4 guard from The Bronx, N.Y., played as a true freshman in 2015-16 and missed the entire 2016-17 season (redshirted, after having sustained a knee injury in July 2016). Ali is the oldest player on the Bruins' 17-man roster and has played in more games at UCLA than any of his teammates (69 games, 29 starts). Through the team's first seven games, Ali has averaged 10.0 points and 2.0 rebounds per contest.
ย
VERSUS LMU โ€“ THE LAST MEETING
Loyola Marymount defeated UCLA, 69-58, when the two local schools last faced each other (Nov. 11, 2011). The marked the first game of the 2011-12 season, a year in which UCLA played all 18 regular-season "home" games away from campus while Pauley Pavilion was undergoing an 18-month renovation. The UCLA-LMU game took place at the Los Angeles Sports Arena, just south of downtown Los Angeles. David Wear and Reeves Nelson each scored 13 points for the Bruins. LMU's Ashley Hamilton registered a team-leading 23 points, while Anthony Ireland finished with 21.
ย
THE YEAR WAS 1990
UCLA defeated Loyola Marymount, 149-98, before 12,267 fans in Pauley Pavilion on Dec. 2, 1990, in what was the highest scoring basketball game in school history (for the Bruins). The Bruins' 149 total points is a school record. In addition, the 247 total points scored between both teams still stands as a school record. UCLA led the visiting Lions by a 65-43 margin at halftime and outscored LMU in the second half, 84-55.
ย
DOUBLE-FIGURE SCORING
Eight Bruins scored at least 10 points in UCLA's historic 149-98 win over Loyola Marymount on Dec. 2, 1990. Don MacLean led all scorers with 33 points (connecting on 13-of-20 shots). Mitchell Butler had 18 points, Darrick Martin totaled 17, while Tracy Murray and Shon Tarver each finished with 16. In all, the Bruins shot 65.2 percent from the field, connecting on a school-record 58 shots (on 89 total attempts).
ย
LOOKING AT THE SERIES
Prior to LMU's win over UCLA to open the 2011-12 season, the Bruins had won the previous 12 games, including a 69-66 overtime decision in 2003-04. UCLA scored at least 100 points against LMU in three consecutive meetings in the early 1990s โ€“ 149 points in Dec. 1990, 106 in Dec. 1991 and 115 in Nov. 1993. UCLA last faced Loyola Marymount in Pauley Pavilion on Dec. 17, 2008 (the Bruins won that game, 75-44).
ย
NEXT ROAD TRIP
The Bruins will play two consecutive games in the midwest โ€“ at Cincinnati on Wednesday, Dec. 19 and versus Ohio State (in Chicago) on Saturday, Dec. 22. The Bruins' game at Cincinnati is part of a home-and-home series that began in Pauley Pavilion last season. The game against Ohio State is part of this season's CBS Sports Classic, a one-day doubleheader that features UCLA and Ohio State at 2 p.m. (CT) before Kentucky faces North Carolina at 4:15 p.m. (CT).
