No. 5 Women's Tennis Posts Season-Opening Sweep Against LMU

LOS ANGELES โ The fifth-ranked UCLA women's tennis team opened dual-match play Tuesday with a 7-0 victory against LMU at Los Angeles Tennis Center. All six Bruins in action recorded two wins on the day. The Lions (0-3) collected just one singles set.
The 36th-ranked doubles tandem of UCLA's Ahmani Guichard and Anne-Christine Lutkemeyer seized the first four games on Court 3 en route to a 6-2 triumph over Camilia Samel-Druz and Kim-Michaela Zahraj. Bruins Kimmi Hance and Elise Wagle, ranked No. 6 as a duo, closed out a 6-3 clinching victory opposite Fiona Arrese and Isabella Tcherkes-Zade by taking the final four games. Also completed was the matchup on Court 2, where No. 4 Olivia Center/Kate Fakih of UCLA downed No. 32 Anastasia Bozova/Stefania Rogozinska 6-4.
Center made quick work of Grace Balasian in her first career dual-match singles action, winning 6-0, 6-0 on Court 6. No. 38 Lutkemeyer was next to finish on Court 2, where she was making her first-ever appearance. She bested Samel-Druz 6-2, 6-2 to make the overall score 3-0.

No. 41 Fakih clinched the team win in her dual-match debut, besting Bozova by a 6-2, 6-4 margin. Guichard added to the lead on Court 5, dealing Martina Bovio a 6-2, 6-3 defeat.
With just the seniors left to finish, No. 53 Wagle's 6-3, 6-1 victory on Court 3 turned eyes toward Court 1. Rogozinska-Dzik prevailed in Set 1, but Hance battled back. The Bruin took the second set by tiebreaker and came out on top of a 10-point decider for a 3-6, 7-6(4), 1-0(4) result.
UCLA next hosts ITA Kickoff Weekend, scheduled for Friday and Saturday.
