March 22, 2026 | Women's Tennis
EAST LANSING, Mich. โ The 10th-ranked UCLA women's tennis team dropped the doubles point to Michigan State Sunday, but bounced back resoundingly to win 4-1 at MSU Indoor Tennis Center. Each of the Bruins' four singles victories came in straight sets.
Mayu Crossley and Anne-Christine Lutkemeyer had two-win days for UCLA (9-5, 3-3, Big Ten). Ellie Blackford and Matilde Morais of the Spartans (8-8, 1-5) teamed to prevail in a ranked doubles matchup and secure their team's only point.
Crossley/Lutkemeyer, which debuted with a victory Saturday, earned another one Sunday. The Bruins beat Oriana Parkins-Godwin/Issey Purser 6-2 on Court 2. MSU bounced back with a pair of 6-3 wins, however, securing the initial point. Amara Brahmbhatt/Hanna Tsitavets defeated Kayla Chung/Ahmani Guichard on Court 3 before No. 57 Blackford/Morais took down No. 33 Olivia Center/Kate Fakih up top in clinching fashion.
UCLA won all six singles first sets and the Lutkemeyer/Crossley combination quickly added to the score. First to finish was No. 11 Lutkemeyer, who dealt Blackford a 6-2, 6-1 defeat on Court 1. Then No. 46 Crossley handled Brahmbhatt 6-2, 6-4 on Court 2. Crossley went a perfect 4-0 across singles and doubles matches during the Michigan trip.
No. 119 Bianca Fernandez of the Bruins followed with a 6-0, 6-3 display opposite Tsitavets on Court 4. Courts 5 and 6 neared clinching results, but it was Center on the latter finishing before Guichard. Center bested Purser 6-3, 6-4 in the decider.
UCLA stays on the road, albeit closer to home, when it next meets crosstown rival USC Friday, March 27. First serve from David X. Marks Tennis Stadium is scheduled for 2 p.m. PT.
